The Statement
Glow & Gild earns a commission on purchases made through links on this site. If you click a buy button here and buy something, we receive a percentage of the sale. It costs you nothing extra — the price you pay is the same as it would be had you gone directly to the retailer.
As an Amazon Associate, Glow & Gild earns from qualifying purchases. Amazon is currently the only affiliate relationship this site has: we have joined no Commission Junction advertisers and no Awin programs, so no link on this site is tracked through either network. If that changes, this page changes with it.
A disclosure also appears above the first affiliate link on every commercial page, because a link to this page is not the same as telling you before you click.
How the Links Work
Every product link on this site routes through a redirect at `/go/` before reaching the retailer. That exists so the destination for a given product lives in one configuration file rather than being scattered across a hundred pages, which means a link can be corrected or repointed without rewriting an article.
Affiliate links carry `rel="sponsored nofollow"` and open in a new tab. That is a requirement of Google's link policy and it is also the honest markup: these links are commercial, and the page says so in the HTML as well as in the text.
We record when a buy link is clicked, in aggregate, so we can see which recommendations readers find useful. That is standard web analytics rather than anything that identifies you.
What Commission Does Not Change
Commission rates vary substantially — by category, by retailer and by individual product. A site that let those rates decide its recommendations would produce a predictable pattern: expensive products, from high-rate categories, at the top of every list.
That is not the pattern here, and it is checkable. Several picks across this site are the cheapest product in their category, chosen because they publish a concentration and use a sensible vehicle. Where a mass-market product is genuinely better for the buyer than a prestige one, the mass-market product is the pick, even where the prestige one would pay considerably more.
The rule, written out: buyer-first beats commission, always. It is in the editorial policy as a standing commitment rather than a claim made once.
Why There Are No Prices Here
Every buy control on this site says Check price on Amazon rather than showing a number. That is deliberate.
Retail prices change constantly, and a price printed on a page is accurate for as long as it takes the retailer to change it. This site has no live price feed, which means any number we printed would be one we remembered rather than one we verified — and a guess presented next to a buy button is worse than no number at all.
The same rule governs the structured data behind these pages: the product markup carries no price field, because a fabricated price in machine-readable data is a violation as well as a lie. If a live price feed is added later, prices will appear inside the buy buttons and will be date-stamped with when they were verified.
No Affiliate Links on Trust Pages
This page, the about page, the methodology and the editorial policy carry no affiliate links of any kind. A disclosure page with a buy button on it is not a disclosure, and a policy page that monetizes itself is not a policy.
