Who Writes This
Everything on Glow & Gild is written by Sawyer V. I am an enthusiast who is genuinely into this: I read the manufacturer documentation, compile the published percentages, check them against the ingredient lists, and do the arithmetic. No lab coat.
It matters to say plainly what that does not include. I am not a dermatologist, a cosmetic chemist, a licensed esthetician or a pharmacist. I hold no clinical credential and I will never imply one. There is no expert panel behind this site, no team of reviewers, and no medical adviser — because inventing any of those would be the first lie, and every subsequent claim would inherit it.
What I do have is a method, and it is published in full on the methodology page so you can check it rather than trust it. That is deliberately the opposite trade to the one this category usually offers.
Why This Site Exists
Search for almost any skincare ingredient and count how many of the top results are published by a company that sells that ingredient. It is usually most of them.
Those pages are not necessarily dishonest, but they are structurally unable to reach certain conclusions. A brand selling a 1% retinol serum cannot write *0.3% is the better starting dose and the cheaper product will do*. A brand selling a 10% niacinamide cannot write *most of the published benefit is demonstrated at 5%, and 10% is where the complaints start*. Those two sentences are on this site because nobody pays us to leave them off.
The second gap is depth on the entity itself. The commercial pages are all roundups — best retinol serums, best woody fragrances — and almost none of them answer the question underneath: what is this thing, what does the percentage mean, what does the note actually smell like. That is the reference layer, and it is what the ingredients hub and the fragrance hub are built to be.
What This Site Will Not Do
A short list, because it is easier to check than a mission statement.
- We will not claim to have tested products. We have not. Everyone in this category says they tested twenty serums; we have tested none, and we say so on every commercial page.
- We will not invent credentials. No dermatologist-reviewed badge, no expert panel, no years-of-experience claim.
- We will not publish reviews or testimonials. Glow & Gild is a new property with no customers and no review history. A page with no testimonials is honest; a page with invented ones is fraud.
- We will not print a price or a star rating we cannot verify. There is no live price feed on this site, so every buy control says *check price* rather than a number that would be a guess.
- We will not let commission decide a recommendation. Several picks across this site are the cheapest product in their category. See the editorial policy.
Who Publishes It
Glow & Gild is published by Fathom & Foundry, which owns and operates the site. There is no third-party investor, no brand ownership, and no retailer relationship beyond the Amazon Associates program described in the affiliate disclosure.
The site earns a commission when a reader buys through a link here. That is the entire business model, it is stated on every commercial page above the first link, and it does not change which product gets recommended.
